Adult Entertainment began as a monthly event with a focus on short readings from a mix of writers and artists who each tended to be fixtures on the party scene as much as the poetry scene. This saw a focus on themes such as late nights, city life, dating and dancing, all while connecting the dots between performance, publishing, process and practice.
Tonight's edition of Adult Entertainment brings together seven Brussels poets, followed by a rhythmic poetry dub concert by Yazal.

Yazal is a musical project, created by sonic architect Michiel Van Cleuvenbergen (Condor Gruppe). Together with drummer-percussionist Frederik Meulyzer (Stray Dogs, Hamster Axis of the One-Click Panther), singer-vocalist Prisca-Agnes Nishimwe, and saxophone player Matti Willems, the audiovisual fourpiece blends elements of ambient, dub, jazz and electronics. The video artwork by Michiel on the title track, Time Travels, extends the atmosphere into a visual dimension, unfolding motions that drift between retro- and neo-soul. Think of Massive Attack in the mix with Burial and Makaya Mccraven, with analogue effects somewhere in ‘90s Bristol – rhythms, melodies, lyrics and textures come together in a poetic soundscape, piercing through the boundaries of language, technology and even instruments. A collective invitation to keep on listening differently.
