After a successful event in Louvain, FairFin◦ is organizing a Bank to Basics in Brussels. The first session dealt with the issue of what was wrong with our banks and the socio-ecological consequences of the current economic model.

Nowadays everyone can acquire interest-free finance, use Islamic banking and we are agreed that it is better not to sell Belfius.

But who really has the power to tackle these kinds of questions? Can we rely on our politicians to solve the crisis? Or do we have to leave this to the bankers and their lobby and put up with the austerity measures and accept that the financial world is a no-go area for our democracy? Or are there other options?
