A monthly event where entrepreneurs talk about their biggest professional or business failure.
The speakers:
Wim Embrechts
Founder and director at Art2Work. Wim was also the founder and director of Recyclart, but he got fired for repeatedly forging his president's signature (for banal, everyday paperwork). A story of how a small fuckup can lead to a very complicated situation, and later on to a well enhanced understanding of oneself and increased empathy for other people's flaws and mistakes.
Sabine Riche
Coordinator at Daarkom. Daarkom is the Brussels Moroccan-Flemish cultural center located in a stunning old theatre - La Gaité - in the heart of Brussels. Few months ago Sabine got informed about the decision of Flemish Minister of Culture to close the doors of La Gaité in order to give Daarkom a second life. Sabine is gonna tell us how this decision is impacting the culture centre unique mission of promoting dialogue and cultural exchanges between the Maroccan and Flemish community and how it feels as a personal failure. This talk will be in French!
Yannick Schandené
Collaborator at Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. Yannick will share the story of 'The Invisible Council', a project by his now no longer existing collective Soft Revolution. The idea was to bring 55 micro installations to the center of Ixelles based on the invisible city by Italo Calvino. They had the support of the city and all plans were ready to get going, but the collective never got round to execution. Everyone seemed to have other priorities. The event was cancelled, and not much later the collective was on a dead end.
Wim, Sabine and Yannick will share with you in 7 minutes:
- What their project was
- What went wrong
- How it affected their personal life
- What they learned
- What they would do differently At the end of each story you, the audience, ask questions. All accompanied by beer and good friends.
