Mwmcreative is a London-based design and research studio founded in 2004 by Maria da Gandra and Maaike van Neck. Their ethos is informed through a com­bi­na­tion of prac­tice, teaching and research. In addi­tion to teaching and client-driven work the studio ini­ti­ates a range of col­lab­o­ra­tions, research projects, work­shops and pub­li­ca­tions such as the recently pub­lished InformForm: Information design: in theory, an informed prac­tice.
Maria da Gandra studied Graphic Design at the University of Glamorgan in Cardiff. She under­took her MA in Communication Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 2004, where she also taught for 5 years. In 2011 she ran a short course on Information Design at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Maria cur­rently teaches on the BA (Hons) Graphic Communication at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham.
Maaike van Neck studied Communication Design at the University of Portsmouth. She obtained a MA in Communication Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 2004. Maaike spent 7 years as Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth teaching on the BA (Hons) and MA Graphic Design. She now teaches at Ravensbourne College, London, BA (Hons) Graphic Design.

Catalogtree is a mul­ti­dis­ci­pli­nary design studio based in Arnhem/NL. It was founded in 2001 by Daniel Gross and Joris Maltha who met at Werkplaats Typografie. The studio works con­tin­u­ously on com­mis­sioned and self ini­ti­ated projects. Highly inter­ested in self-organising sys­tems they believe in ‘Form Equals Behaviour’. Experimental tool-making, pro­gram­ming, typog­raphy and the visu­al­iza­tion of quan­ti­ta­tive data are part of their daily rou­tine.
Other recent endeav­ours include an inter­ac­tive doc­u­men­tary for the iPad, a swarm of 21 bristle bots and a double pen­dulum gear clock. Amongst their clients are Phaidon Press, Vitra Design Museum, Architect Magazine and New York Times Magazine. Daniel and Joris are teaching at Design Academy’s Master course in Eindhoven/NL and are giving inter­na­tional work­shops.
