Cassonade is an initiative launched in 2021 for and by the residents of the Manchesterstraat neighbourhood in Molenbeek. Their primary mission is to create local solidarity between people of different cultures and backgrounds through a participatory community kitchen.

Cristina Cerqueira was born in Portugal. In her high school, she read the antifascist slogans written on the walls and doors of the bathrooms. Where she comes from, bathrooms were places of resistance. Much later, Cristina became a bathroom attendant for the Beursschouwburg. She remembers that bathrooms are places that invite free expression. Taking words out of the bathrooms to liberate them becomes evident. The table, usually occupied by a modest dish for tips, gives way to a creative arsenal of notebooks, pencils, and materials for cutting and collaging. Cristina transforms a service usually paid for into a human exchange. Unexpected moments and unplanned parties find their way into the bathrooms maintained by Cristina, turning them into a unique place in the Brussels nightlife. Today, nearly 200 notebooks hold Cristina's collection.
