Isaiah Hull
“Stand-up tragedian” and member of Life Is Beautiful collective & label Isaiah Hull brings an irresistibly fresh blend of heartbreaking and humorous poetry to dark glitchy beats (by beatmaker aloisius) with flawless flow. He’s appeared as a support act for artists such as Skepta, Sampha and Kae Tempest, and his upcoming debut album Pocomania will be released by YOUNG (formerly known as Young Turks), which is also home to Sampha, Jamie XX, FKA Twigs and Kamasi Washington. Surrounded by such big names, his poetic portrayal of the political reality of life in the United Kingdom and in his home city of Manchester might well end up shaking the very foundations of experimental British hip-hop.

El Kontessa
Through her alter-ego, El Kontessa (EG) the Cairo-based producer, DJ and multidisciplinary artist Fajr Soliman channels her home city’s energetic sounds. Her DJ sets combine modern electronic musical textures and ‘bass music’ with Maghranat: a combination of working class popular Egyptian music (shaabi) played at weddings, EDM and hip hop, with heavy autotune use. Her debut album Nos Habet Caramel / نص حبة كراميل , released in 2023 on the Palestinian label Bilna’es, represents a perfect balance between dancefloor traditions and renewal.

ojoo
Born and raised in Morocco, ojoo has been a consistently fresh wind in Brussels for many years now, known for their eclectic music selection, jaw dropping dj skills, and understated activism (as in: less words, more actions and music). As an event organiser / lineup curator, and as a member of our beloved associated artist Psst Mlle, ojoo truly amplifies underrepresented voices, sounds and genres. Their irresistible mix of dancehall, dub, reggaeton, dembow, grime and more, from its most old-school roots to its most futuristic and distorted mutations, always infatuates their audiences. Even when they take the dancefloor on a surprise excursion into the noisy, grubby, sludgy, illbient and musique concrète side of the music spectrum too. The list of past gigs is endless and very impressive but if you missed ojoo at the recent Bota By Night they curated, you have another chance at Horst festival soon. And right here right now on the BRDCST-rooftop, of course.
