Les 5 Blocs, a social housing complex in the heart of Brussels, is facing demolition. An urban redevelopment scheme envisions the site’s complete destruction and its transformation into a newly built neighborhood. Built in the 1960s, the estate now stands almost entirely emptied of its residents, awaiting the cranes… that have yet to arrive. And yet nearly a hundred people still remain. Not having been rehoused, they continue to live in what has become a largely abandoned area.
