A conversation on cancel culture and transformative justice w/ Liminal
How do we rebuild community after the rubble?
18:30 doors
19:00 talk + Q&A
22:00 beurscafé closes
This third edition of a kind further tackles the question of the community inside cancel culture. As minorities, how do we act to help and preserve our community and siblings? Convinced that each voice has its importance in a process of cancel culture, this open talk tries to imagine possible solutions to turn that process into transformative justice.
Tonight's guests and moderator want to build a space where we can horizontally speak all together, with things to say, to share and to rethink. Let's reinforce our LGBTQIA+ communities by thinking about our own place, own power and own capacity for taking care.
TRANS AND QUEER PEOPLE TO THE FRONT. ALLIES WELCOME.

Guest Olave (she/her), born in Burundi and raised in the diaspora, is a Black trans woman who writes. She has made literary contributions to Zwart-Afro-europese literatuur uit de Lage Landen (2018), De Goede Immigrant (2020), and Being Imposed Upon (2020). Additionally, she has published several times in De Standaard, OneWorld Magazine, and NRC Handelsblad. Her writing career so far has been characterized by short-term projects (columns, articles, literary contributions to anthologies, readings, etc.). She aims to break away from this pattern in the coming years and focus on two major projects: a play (working title Een Bubbel van Vijf) and a novel about dying.
Moderator Baxter M. Halter is a performer, music composer, occasional DJ, writer, and videast. Baxter is also a regular curator for Queer Festivals such as Festival Homografia, BPFF, and is never too far from SNAP! Festival.

Liminal deconstructs patriarchal norms and gendered expectations in community by holding each other accountable. We believe that everyone can—and men in particular must—contribute to gender justice by reflecting on how patriarchy influences their identity, behavior, and relationships. Liminal provides spaces for exchange, (un)learning, healing, and growth, facilitating transformation through personal development supported by feminist theory.
