A contemporary radiophonic performance with critical dialogues, field recordings and soundscapes.
In times of visual overstimulation, this performance aims to indulge your imagination. Australian Dianne Weller - a performer living in Belgium - with assistance from German director Julie Pfleiderer have decided to invent a new form of theatre, For Your Ears Only.
They showcase an invisible play on an empty stage and, in doing so, resurrect the radio play in a performative way. The audience hears critical comments and sound bites of a performance. For those comments, Weller and Pfleiderer convinced some prominent theatre critics: Andrew Haydon, from the Guardian; Pieter T’Jonck, from De Morgen and Etcetera among others; and Elke Van Campenhout from the a.pass artistic research centre.
This investigation makes For Your Ears Only a truly palatable experience in mind and body: opening up new universes in space and time.
