The London trio Kero Kero Bonito described their music themselves as ‘bilingual schoolyard dancehall’: hyper-slick fluorescent J pop with a wink to the 1990s. Singer Sarah Midori Perry sings and raps in Japanese and English on the delightfully sleazy baseline, saccharine shoe gazing and ‘80s synthpop.
Tim Koh is a multi-instrumentalist from Los Angeles who, tired of the hustle and bustle of La La Land, has been based out of Amsterdam for some years now – though, before he packed his bags, he had the opportunity to work with some of the world’s musical greats, including Ariel Pink, Connan Mockasin, Thurston Moore and DJ Harvey.
