Steev Lemercier is a musician and singer. He performed Merman Tales at art festivals and biennales in Cyprus, Venice, Istanbul and Berlin during 2015.

The previous year, he had an epiphany:

“I was swimming off the Sicilian coast, where the Mediterranean meets the Ionian Sea. I realized how important it is not to forget where we truly come from and what we are made of. I began a quest that I named ‘Merman Tales’: twisted tales in which sailors, mermaids, pearls, golden submarines and salty tears expand new horizons, acknowledge human carnage and praise a new world order. Some merpeople would come to the water’s surface bringing new notions of love and knowledge to heal the world above.

I woke up today and recalled that the broken is hard to fix but,
I opened my darkening eyes wider & looked at the world,
like an open air oyster where I found my own pearl
like a priceless new day.”

Olivia Dunbar is a Berlin-based writer and artist who DJ’s under the pseudonyms _mindfulness101 and BBALL + REALTEENSLUTS.
