A tribute to dub and dancehall culture.
€15 at the door
Dancehall as a music genre takes its name from the Jamaican dancehall as a literal dance space—the place where a sound system brought music lovers together to play, listen, and, of course, dance.
In tribute to these roots, while looking towards the future, Brussels underground tastemaker Rudi J (whom you may already know under the alias Weird Dust) is bringing his sound system to the Beursschouwburg rooftop for Public Sounds: a gathering of forward-thinking "mutant dancehall" artists and the audience, moving beyond the traditional hierarchy of sender and receiver. The aim? To amplify the voice(s) of a community and make great sound accessible to all who want to be part of it. Consider yourself very much invited <3

KAT7
KAT7 is the brainchild of the talented Jamaican creatives, Exile Di Brave and Gavsborg. With Exile Di Brave's established success as a reggae/dancehall singer and toaster, and Gavsborg's pioneering role as the visionary behind experimental Jamaican music collective Equiknoxx and record label Equiknoxx Music, this collaboration is nothing short of mind-bending. The pair, now based in Germany, have been recording this project across various locations in New Zealand, Germany, Jamaica and Switzerland. Back in 2022 Equiknoxx played an incredible Out Loud gig on this very same rooftop, so we are super happy to welcome KAT7 (back) for another round of forward-thinking & true-to-its-roots Jamaican music cultures.

Jo Flm ft Toff Youth
Born in Kososvo and based in Amsterdam (but no stranger in the Brussels airwaves of Kiosk Radio), Jo FLM brings forward a selection of ghostly transmissions from the worlds of Jazz, Dub, Rhythm & Blues, polyrhythmic hot steppers, blitzed electronics, post-genre avantgarde and the occasional dub siren solo. She is part of the Fuuturejazz collective, one of the people behind Radio TNP and prefers to let the music do the talking. And MC Toff Youth too, of course! This Trinidad & Tobago representing all-around creative with a reel ruff tuff style and a soundsystem spirit is starting to make the rounds in Amsterdam. On a mission to share all aspects of Trinidadian Culture with a global audience, he also likes to keep it short here and save the talk for the mic on stage.

Hermeneia
Warsaw-based DJ and vocalist Hermeneia is one of the driving forces bringing exceptional bass music to the Polish capital. As founder of Radio Lola & the FURDA event series, her music selection, curation and production focus on the sound system sonics and low-end hitters that move from slow to fast with some of that new-school half-time, memphis sounds, footwork and plenty of good old dancehall 7’inch business. With regular shows on LYL and Noods Radio, Hermeneia has been spotted on Boiler Room, NTS and right here in Brussels on Kiosk Radio.

Rudi J
Rudi J, formerly known as Weird Dust, is the latest alias of one of Brussels’ longstanding underground tastemakers. Not unlike his other formations, such as Tav Exotic and ZOZ, Rudi J’s music seems deceptively simple at first, only to culminate in a layered sound experience that keeps on giving. Straightforward drums evolve into generous polyrhythms, drooping bass lines suddenly thrust forward, dancehall permutations and digi-dub jams fly by under sun-drenched oscillations – sounds to get lost in, together.
