Black clouds

Tuesday March 22, black clouds have gathered over our beloved city of Brussels. An unexpected and fatal blow. First and foremost, our thoughts go to victims and their families, friends, colleagues and everyone who lost a loved one.

The usually effervescent metropolis lies silent again. Terrorism paralyzed public life. The heart of this city weeps, the streets are empty and its residents are chocked, bereaved, confused and frightened. Beursschouwburg is embedded in the core of this beautiful and complex city where, for an unwavering 50 years, the two of us have been as one, together through thick and thin. And this is a very dark day.

No matter how desperately we want things to be different, terrorism forces us to keep our doors closed for the time being. In concrete terms this means we're cancelling all activities programmed for Wednesday 23th and Thursday 24th March. We will then reassess the situation for the coming weekend.

We're doing all we possibly can so that we are able to welcome you back into our theatre and sit at the bar with you. But until we can confidently vouch for the safety of our audience we have no choice but to keep the doors closed.
