a programme on myths, rumours and murmur. This autumn, we are talking brand new ancients, futuristic speculations and unfinished tales, so they say.
Myths cannot be trusted – true or false? They are fantastic narratives, made-up stories and false beliefs, imbued with binary constructs around good and evil, here and there, man and woman, East and West, nature and culture... But myths are also mobile, malleable and plural stories that can change over time and exist (together) in many variants.
This focus programme looks at how we can rethink, remake, rewrite and make myths our own today. What are today's mythic sagas? How can we align myths with our own desires for the future?
Through performances, talks, reading groups, screenings, concerts and mythical club nights, we will discuss queer and trans utopias, mythological TV soap heroines, oppressive histories, revolt, liberation, futuristic dance mythologies, activist strategies and feminist revolutions, body hair, bad ideas, ugly feelings and guilty pleasures. We will gossip, rumours will circulate, memories will glitch.
Come share, murmur and dance with us.
