Dexter Tortoriello and Megan Messina hail from Chicago, but the roots of their dreamy electro-pop can be traced back to a potent three-month stay in Hawaii. While they did odd jobs for a local artist, they lived in a cabin in Papaikou, Hawaii; Messina painted, and Tortoriello worked on more solo music. The duo returned to Chicago in April 2010, where Tortoriello continued working on music. After releasing his first song onine, all went on like roller coaster. Their music was picked up by Pitchfork, got a deal by Lefse Records (Youth Lagoon, Ganglians, Neon Indian), Messina joined the band and the pair finished the debut album All Night over the summer.
