More than 30 years after the term that Kimberle Crenshaw brought to life in the groundbreaking article “Mapping the Margins: Intersectionality, Identity Politics, and Violence Against Women of Color", intersectionality is more relevant than ever.  After years languishing in law, critical race and especially women studies circles, it is a word that has entered the mainstream with a vengance.

Using articles such as Ameil Joseph’s “Beyond Intersectionalities of Identity or Interlocking Analyses of Difference: Confluence and the Problematic of ‘Anti’-oppression” and books such as “Black Feminist Thought” by Patricia Hills Collins as well as “One Dimensional Feminst” by Nina Power, “America” by Sapphire, and “White Innocence” by Gloria Wekker, this group will delve deeper into what feminism is today and how intersectionality has shaped that reality. From that point we will try to uncover what our feminist futures can and will look like.

We talk about the performance Yellow Towel by Dana Michel and the video Purge this land by Lee Ann Schmitt (try to see these!) and dig deeper into concepts like intersectional feminism, Black Lives Matter, identity, etnicity, racism,...

In the framework of THE FUTURE IS FEMINIST.
