Suppose that we succeed in slowing down the ageing process or even stopping it. What would life look like if it lasted a few centuries?
It is with great pleasure that we welcome the Brussels based theatre company Tristero to our stage! And what’s more: they present a première and a large helping of immortality. Tristero started with the story of Jeanne Calment, born in 1875 and died in 1997. As a 122-year-old she is, until now, the person who has lived the longest. She was given the sobriquet forgotten by God.
In the mid-19th century the average life expectancy in Europe was 40 years. Today it is 80 years. That is double in the course of 150 years. Suppose that trend continues. Suppose it were possible to live twice as long as Jeanne Calment…
At last, enough time to do everything we want to do! But perhaps it is also: a life in which everything repeats itself. When has life really been worthwhile and when have you really had enough of it?
