Shari Vari formed Void Vision (US / Mannequin Records) in 2009 (originally a duo) during the explosion of the new minimal synth and cold wave scene in United States. Sharing the same scene of the Wierd Records associates such as Led Er Est, Martial Canterel, Xeno & Oaklander, Automelodi, etc. Void Vision soon became known for striking live performances and released their first single In Twenty Years on Blind Prophet (Sean Ragon's Cult of Youth record label), receiving also the attention of labels like Rough Trade, who included a track on one of their well-curated synth wave compilations.
After the release of a split vinyl and various tracks for tapes and compilations, Mannequin approached Shari with the intention to continue what Wierd Records started, giving a proper shape to her beautiful and youthful, dark electronic sound. The resulting debut album is 10 hypnotic, cold analog tracks dominated by Vari's warm, haunting voice. The songs are dynamic in range, referencing a cross-section of the last 30 years of electronic music, with some more "pop orientated" and others more akin to the original “cold wave” atmosphere, but despite all influences VV retains a sense of uniqueness and personality that sets it apart.
