This installation uncovers poetry in computers, printers, paper or a coffee maker. Bored of sitting in your office? Come visit ours!
fieldworks-office mapping is the installation version of the performance Field Works-office (premiere in 2010), the result of a collaboration with sound artist Fabrice Moinet and comic book artist/performer Brynjar Åbel Bandlien. The Field Works-series (Field Works-hotel, Field Works-office and now also fieldworks-office mapping) seek to infiltrate different terrains and layers of society with artistic work. Codes and conventions in different types of spaces are explored and discussed.
For fieldworks-office mapping Avdal and Shinozaki collaborate with visual artists Christelle Fillod and Wouter Krokaert. Together they explore the mystery and poetry of the (social) environment, how we absorb space and are absorbed by it. Through an ongoing process of mapping during working hours, the Beursschouwburg office and it's staff members gradually evolve to a fictional scenery with caricatural characters.
