She is staying at a four-star hotel spa in a godforsaken part of Croatia among a group of people seeking happiness. Everybody in this group has a totem: as she is new, she is automatically assigned DOG, with the number 23 – she is the 23rd dog. The members of the group don’t know one another but give each other advice and share their beliefs and habits. They are quite convinced that they live in an EXTREMELY LIVELY world, a life ad infinitum.
Anne-Lise Le Gac invites us to a conversation. She takes us to subterranean worlds, introduces us to marginal customs, pirate love and crossbred species. At Bâtard Festival, Le Gac is presenting the third part in a series of work entitled La Caresse du Coma, following two previous episodes La Caresse du Coma ft. COACH and La Caresse du Coma ft. PIRATE.
In 2015, Anne Lise Le Gac joins the shooting of a film by Alain della Negra and Kaori Kinoshita at the university of happiness, a yearly gathering of members of a spiritual community. La Caresse du Coma was born from the encounters and observations of this period.
Anne-Lise Le Gac has a background in the visual arts, but today she mostly creates performative work. In 2015, she was one of the driving forces behind the festival OKAY CONFIANCE at Marseille together with Élise Carron.
