Enrico Gualini speaks on the topic Urban development and planning conflicts in Brussels: a grounded-theoretical analysis of dynamics of contention and trajectories of transformation
Enrico Gualini is Professor of Planning Theory and Urban-Regional Policy Analysis at the Institute for Urban and Regional Planning of TU Berlin - Berlin University of Technology. After gaining his PhD in Planning from Politecnico di Milano (1997) he was affiliated with the University of Dortmund (1997-2000), and the University of Amsterdam (2001-2006) and had visiting scholarships in the US and several European countries.
His research interests include the social construction of space and the political dimension of socio-spatial practices, with a focus on contention and conflict as their specific form of manifestation. He is founder and coordinator of the AESOP Planning/Conflict thematic group and he has recently edited two volumes on the topic: Planning and Conflict: Critical Perspectives on Contentious Urban Developments (Routledge 2015) and Conflict in the City: Contested Urban Spaces and Local Democracy (Jovis 2015, co-edited with J. Morais Mourato and M. Allegra).
