We are happy to invite you to FuckUp Night Brussels Vol. V on March 12 and even more happy to present you with the following speakers
Gelieve op voorhand hier je plaats te reserveren
Fanuel Dewever
managing partner of 83degreessouth.com and invisiblepuppy.com. Fanuel was one of the co-founders of Emphas.is, a crowdfunding platform for photojournalism. In its two years of existence, Emphas.is helped raised $500,000 for photographers’ projects, but unfortunately the costs of the platform were too high to turn it into a sustainable business. Having known from the start that Emphas.is was a high-risk venture, Fanuel will share his account of the story, how he managed to handle the risks involved and how his career in entrepreneurship has evolved since.
Cédric Kwizera
lifeguard at the Neptunium swimming pool. For Cédric his biggest professional FuckUp happened even before he launched his professional career; when he gave up on his studies after receiving bad exam results . He will talk about how he ended up not persevering, why he regrets it, what he would have done differently and what his plan is to get back on track. (This talk will be in French!)
Cathy Camertijn
founder and manager of LEFnow. Cathy will talk about her first experience of being an independent consultant, winning a big client and being hit by many setbacks at the same time. She lost the client, had conflicts with colleagues in the consulting network, was put under pressure by her family, coped with financial losses and had a sick partner at home with burn-out. She recovered by doing some serious introspection on who she wanted to be and what she wanted her product to be, eventually leading her to establish her current company.
Oscar Gutierrez
entrepreneur from El Salvador currently in the process of founding ‘Force Ally’ in Belgium. Oscar presented the FuckUp team with a small range of failure stories to choose from, and we selected the most exotic/scary/exciting sounding story which was about the time he tried to launch a program to set up companies in the USA from Latin America. The project ended when gangsters forced him to either leave his country or die.
