A-WA (YE/IS - urban folk beats) is made up of three sisters, called Tair, Liron & Tagel Haim, who bring Yemenite folk on mesmerising urban beats. A little bird tells us that none other than Tomer Yosef (Balkan Beat Box) is putting the finishing touches to their debut album.
After searching for nearly two years, the sisters found a repertoire of protest songs (sung in a Yemeni-Arabic dialect) recorded by Shlomo Moga’a in the 60s. The combination of their roots with modern sounds results in a very danceable sound that transcends borders.
And ‘A-WA’ if you still want to dance after all this? Since you ask so nicely, we throw in a DJ set of The Wild, living Brussels legend, for free. Value for money in Beursschouwburg!
