Co-founded by GSARA’s Atelier Cinéma and CVB’s production studio, Conversation is a one year residency centred around a collaboration between two artists. A support mechanism for creators focused on the concerns of documentary cinema, its laws and its variety.

With the question “What does it mean to make films?” at its core_Conversation _establishes itself as a circulation _in_ and _around_ the daily practice of two filmmakers. An invitation to participate in shared listening, and to engage in a dialogue between two distinct worlds, and to exchange images, sounds, texts and any other potential medium with a unique connection to the real. A residence without a specific place except the common space that the two artists decide to give it.

After three editions - in 2016 with Olivier Dekegel & Emmanuel Van der Auwera, in 2017 with Nina de Vroome and Khristine Gillard and in 2018 with Laure Cottin Stefanelli and Peter Snowdon - this new _Conversation_ will be the focus of 3 public events, of which the first will take place in Beursschouwburg in April 2019. A publication – a souvenir of this shared year - will be released at the end of the residency (autumn 2019).

_Conversation_ is open to Belgian artists and foreign artists residing in Brussels. For the sake of practicality, the working language will be French.

The concrete conditions of this residency are as follows:
● a fixed duration of 1 year,
● a lump sum royalty of €3000 per artist,
● CVB and GSARA’s technical tools – shooting, editing, postproduction,…
● 2 advisors from the production studios on hand throughout the process.

● a personal statement (detailing the filmmaker’s own motivations),
● a presentation of the filmmaker’s work,
● the filmmaker’s CV and most recent work in the form of a DVD/vimeo links/portfolio/…
