Dear friends of the Beursschouwburg,
We have lots to tell you at the end of this year 2016.

Here is our news in a nutshell:

  • For the past four years, Beursschouwburg has been working with a number of artistes associés (as we like to call them, aka artists who have a contract with us for four years), including the French performance collective L'Amicale de production, film makers Olivia Rochette & Gerard-Jan Claes, performance artist Miet Warlop / Irene Wool vzw & the music label ALPAGE RECORDS. We would like to thank them for the past few years and wave them off officially on Saturday 17 December.

  • It’s goodbye, but also hello! Beursschouwburg welcomes a new batch of artistes associés for the next five years, including multi-artist Louis Vanhaverbeke, film maker Christina Stuhlberger, visual artist Hana Miletic, musician Empty Taxi and multi-media and performance artist Nástio Mosquito.

  • Since 2011, Beursschouwburg has been joining forces with graphic designers Joris Kritis, Julie Peeters and Terry Kritis. Thanks to their fantastic work, Beursschouwburg’s house style is widely recognised. All good things must come to an end, though, and they are now expertly supervised by the female designer trio Atelier Brenda.

  • We conclude our focus programme Come Together. This autumn, our programme carried that name because we felt it was important for people to experience life together. (Forget ‘together’ for good, from February, we do everything ‘on our own’. The new programme will be given the common denominator title O Solutide. Next year, we will be celebrating solitude and being alone!)

Saturday 17 December: it sounds like a historic day, a heroic end for some and a mysterious beginning for others. We invite everyone to help us thank and welcome, congratulate and idolize, bewail and embrace our artistes associés and designers.

Saturday 17 December will be a day of a thousand thank yous, nearly as many artistic sketches and spaghetti galore. We invite everyone (and we mean everyone!) to help us celebrate this historic day over a bowl of spag bol. Let us toast on artists and designers old and new: Come together for a very last time!
