Louis-Philippe Loncke talks about the theme 'Minimal'! “Less is more, however...”.
Louis-Philippe Loncke is an explorer, adventurer and motivational speaker. His achievements include the world first crossing on foot of the length of the Simpson desert, in Australia; the Poland Trek project, a one-man journey from the Tatras Mountains to the Baltic Sea. He had the honor of carrying the Olympic torch in 2012, and has been a speaker at TEDx Flanders and TEDx Warsaw.
He also organizes expeditions with a specific purpose: discover a culture, stress out an important ecologic issue or raise funds for a local cause. The Chocolate Sherpa, a walk from Katmandu to Everest base camp, organizing chocolate tastings, was aimed at raising funds for the Nepal mobile Hospital. He explores remote and extreme environments, and his solo adventures are mainly unsupported, to feel what’s like to be out there alone facing the pure power and beauty of nature.
At CreativeMornings Brussels, Mr. Loncke will talk about what made him start his world-first solo walking expeditions and their advantages - such as being able to set your own limits. From five challenging yet rewarding such treks until now, he has learned about the risk of pushing yourself too far, about mental and physical planning, and finding the right balance between speed, safety and comfort. He will also reveal his ultimate luxury item for an expedition.
