In 2010, the eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano and the subsequent total shutdown of European air traffic made Liz Kinoshita think about the ease with which we travel the world today.
In VOLCANO, she uses mechanisms from musical genres of the 1930s to the 1950s to reveal the hectic lives of contemporary performers and globetrotters.
VOLCANO tells us about the lifestyle, the endless tours that are needed to make performances possible, but it is also about the reflections that arise when a volcano causes us to land with both feet on the ground.
