Joy Guidry is a bassoonist, versatile improviser, performance artist, and composer of experimental, daring new works that embody a deep love of storytelling; Joy’s music channels her inner child in honor of their ancestors and predecessors. Joy was born in Houston, Texas, into a creative family that has shaped who she is today. Joy is the founder of Jaid Records, which is a record label that focuses on experimental ambient music, free jazz. Jaid Records was founded in October of 2024, and currently has released her third album titled Five Prayers. Joy has presented her original work at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, has been commissioned by Long Beach Opera, and has been featured in festivals like the La Biennale di Venezia, to name just a few (big ones) from her simply impressive trajectory. Joy Guidry is the winner of the 2021 Berlin Prize for Young Artists. She is currently playing on a Heckel Bassoon number 6101.

Maybe Brussels’ most enigmatic music prophet Shungu is forever in transformation. Under the name Senga, he is an accomplished producer and beatmaker who has worked with the likes of Dreamcastmoe, Quelle Chris en Fly Anakin – and will play at the upcoming edition of Jazz Middelheim. His latest alias dj Echotree and the eponymous label/platform are dedicated to the more introspective, legacy-oriented and interdisciplinary side of his artistic practice. Considering the impressive series of mixtapes, albums, radio shows and live gigs to his name, the only constant for this next chapter might be that you’ll be using your mind, your memory and most of all your heart to experience it to the fullest.
