In a short space of time, young maker Louis Vanhaverbeke has developed a poetic universe on stage. His third project, Mikado Remix, will premiere this year at the Kunstenfestivaldesarts. As a handyman and song maker Vanhaverbeke examines the boundaries of normality. They are as figurative as they are literal. We build isolated cells, prisons, and schools to limit normality and distinguish ourselves from others. But to what extent does this isolated thinking threaten our freedom and personality? What separates the safe space from the potentially hazardous space? Who decides what belongs inside or outside the walls? Once again, the stage serves as Vanhaverbeke’s studio, which this time is abundant with fences, cables, storage boxes, and a fuse box. As he proceeds to build up his universe, he tries to figure out what is bothering him, through music and self-composed lyrics. He expands his inner world and opens doors where previously only walls stood. An expansion of artistic horizons.
