Screening, performance lecture and panel talk about connections between China and Africa, situated artistic production and artisanal mining in East Congo.
Revital Cohen (UK) and Tuur Van Balen (BE) present a performance lecture about their recent work, Trapped in the Dream of the Other, which was produced in Hunan (China) and at a coltan mine in Kivu (DR Congo). The lecture features segments from the film and reveals the background and process underlying the work, after which a panel of invited guests join the artists to delve further into connections between China and Africa, situated artistic production and artisanal mining in East Congo.
