Monsters & Geometry
The circle, the cube, the sphere ... The French artists duo Gaëlle Hippolyte and Lina Hentgen have clearly paid attention in their geometry lessons. Both have been highly active for years with surreal drawings. This significant production was increasingly used in sets, installations, and sculptures. And now there is the duo’s first performance. With the French dramatist, Philippe Quesne as coach, already known within the Beursschouwburg, the duo created a silent world where their cartoon-like characters come to life. The set is a piece of white paper and the objects form the animation. The tension of the geometric figures is balanced in the performance by a few multi-coloured monsters …
