A must-see for everyone who gets a kick out of PowerPoint presentations, meeting agendas, ‘efficiency control’ and ‘process optimisation’.
During Work Hard / Play Hard, Beursschouwburg opts for a solo exhibition of artist Céline Berger (1973), who is currently working on a project as a resident of the State Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam. In her videos and installations, Berger uses images, concepts and methods that are directly modelled on the world of business. This is how she established the link between her former job as engineer in a German technical company (where for 12 years, she was involved in the development of the D-ram, a computer chip) and her current practice as an artist. Her art expresses a fascination for management methods, forms of communication and the aesthetics of business activities.
We asked Laura Herman (freelance writer, Z33, the Pavilion) to write a short essay about Céline Berger's work. Text Laura Herman
