Diederik Peeters Hulk

Diederik Peeters makes a mockery of the concept of anger, frustrated frenzy runs as a theme through the show.

Since Diederik Peeters has broken free from the shackles of Beursschouwburg (he was artist in residence here until 2012), he has become a true Hulk. We know the Hulk as a green comic strip and TV character whose physical power explodes proportionate to his anger. Peeters ridicules the concept of anger, as frustrated frenzy runs as a theme through the show. At the height of intense frustration and violent temper, reality takes on extreme forms.

Although in Hulk, Peeters is on stage with Nada Gambier, the show is no duet. Hulk is a real 'ensemble piece'; light, sound, set and even costume relate as equal opponents to the performers. Hulks have a particular want of displaying headstrong behaviour. You may well consider this show as the maverick of Work Hard/ Play Hard.

Aftertalk on Saturday 12/10 (in English) with the artists, by Tom Bonte - director of Beursschouwburg.
