Two bands that once mainly existed in a live setting, have both released their second album, drifting further into their own orbits of sound. Sergeant, which began as a collaboration between two voices, now expands with the presence of a third. Another Dancer adds new layers that sometimes verge on something almost familiar. So let’s get familiar (again) <3

Sergeant
Sergeant makes music like editing an erratic film: cutting, splicing, and reassembling sounds into a whirlwind of unexpected turns. The trio – filmmaker/composer Benjamin Cools, search-singing actor Ferre Marnef, and sonic surfer Geraldine Vanspauwen – strike a delicate balance between post-punk’s jagged edges, krautrock’s relentless drive, and an unpredictable pop energy that keeps your heart racing. Live, Sergeant stretch their music to experimental heights, pushing songs into a fever pitch, scrambling them into something even more untamed. And that sounds exactly like how we would like to get under the skin of their latest record Symbols, out since May on Stroom.

Another Dancer
Two years after the release of their debut, Brussels-based art rock quintet Another Dancer brings you a new scheme to trick your melancholia. Life-affirming second album The Plot is a free-wheeling slab of colourful, free-form pop that aims for the third eye – ingredients stay the same, their universe expanded, the focus sharpened… Out since September on one of the loveliest labels in Leuven, Aguirre, the record’s musical influences span four decades of pop music’s weirder side. And somehow it makes the night feel translucent...?
