A brand new project, a brand new album, a brand new sound that combines, one same deeply human energy bridging the Westhoek and La Réunion island.
The Wild Classical Music Ensemble brings together musicians with and without disabilities to create a uniquely energetic blend of punk/rock riffs, fanatical rhythms, fiery flute and synth flights, over which gravitate multi-voiced, multi-lingual vocals that scratch harshly as much as they comfort. In 2024 they met the musicians of Fournèz in Réunion Island, where music is deeply rooted in Maloya and Sega, and started an ongoing musical collaboration. Now, in 2026, this artistic and human journey culminates with the release of an album that builds bridges between cultures and peoples. The project aims to blend the participants’ diverse relationships with music and language, while snippets of poetry are tenderly exchanged between French and Creole. Singer Françoiz Breut was brought on board to bridge these different linguistic worlds.
After a series of shows in La Réunion in October, their first show on European soil at 4AD in their Westhoek heimat just last night, and on the way to the official record launch show at Trans Musicales de Rennes in France, this one of a kind group of passionate musicians is coming to light the Brussels autumn on fire. You better come ready to move <3
about
The Wild Classical Music Ensemble brings together musicians with and without disabilities in a unique band. Rock riffs, rousing rhythms, captivating synths, and polyphonic and multilingual vocals create a delightful combination that cannot be experienced anywhere else. The ensemble was formed in 2007 in Kortrijk and has already released five albums with varying line-ups. The highlight was undoubtedly the collaboration with Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), with whom the ensemble experimented extensively and made the film Hell Gate. In 2023, they even went on tour together.

Fournèz consist of Gilles Lauret, Baptiste Clément, and Benjamin Rebolle, who got together specifically to team up and tour with WCME. They embody contemporary créole music culture from La Réunion island, bring percussion, flute, and years of experience playing Maloya and Sega music.
