Aline Olmos Steler — The Origin Of the Future
In this fictional-legendary tale Aline's vaginal discharge becomes an oracular message for us all.

“I went to the toilet.
And something significant was unfolding
before my eyes during that encounter.
I looked closer, and I saw it:
her dress, her hair, the smoke coming out of her pipe.
Her position was strategic. Small.
Like a painted ghost on a 5-by-7-centimeter cotton fabric.
I remembered that I had just put a lot of underwear into the washing machine.
I went back and checked.
Daily wash mode: ON.
Duration: 1 h 30 min.
Not a trace of them would survive.”
The Origin of the Future is based on the premise that underwear marked with vaginal discharge can be interpreted as oracular messages. Just as we read coffee grounds or the lines on the palms of our hands, “Discharge-mancy” is a forgotten divinatory art that finds, in this performance, a space for manifestation.
In 2025, the performance was presented in a work-in-progress format at the Fringe Festival Amsterdam. It received the I SEE YOU Award at the WHAT YOU SEE festival in Utrecht and was included in the festival’s program in December 2025. It was also part of the WIPCOOP program at the KVS Theater and participated in the Under Construction festival at the Frascati Theater in Amsterdam. Its offcial premiereis scheduled for September 2027 at KVS.
about
Aline Olmos Steler is a Brazilian theater director, clown, and performer based in Amsterdam whose practice utilizes chaos, absurdity, and humor as primary forms of language. Holding an MA from DAS Theater and an artist in residency at Right About Now INC. (Amsterdam) and KVS Theater (Brussels), her research explores themes such as sleep, excrement, female masturbation, and hacking technologies, and her work exists in the friction between popular theater, circus references, and post-dramatic theater. Embracing a DIY aesthetic constructed from household materials, Steler’s creations bridge the distance between artist and audience while critiquing the roles of creator and spectator in late capitalism. She is currently developing the Trilogy of Satiety, which investigates practices of divination, intimacy, and piracy. Her broader practice investigates the subversive potential of undomesticated art-making, challenging the boundaries between the body and the idea of authorship.
