In a very informal talk Fabián Barba draws attention to a way of structuring early modern dance presentations that we might not be familiar with: the format of a dance recital which, as a music concert, could include an intermission. This feature can be observed again in Cunningham's Walk around time and Rainer's program The Mind is a muscle, both works premiered in 1968. We'll take some time to watch Cunningham's intermission on video and try to collectively re-enact the one of Rainer. We will then incorporate an after talk into the performance, as a way to build-in a moment in which we can exchange questions and impressions.
