As part of the Beursschouwburg SoundScreens series the French guitarist was commissioned to write an original score for the Russian silent film “Schastye” by maestro Aleksandr Medvedkin. “Schastye” (Happiness) is a comic film by Aleksandr Medvedkin, a practically unknown maestro. “Schastye” recounts the life of the poor farmer Khmyr and his ‘horse wife’ Anna, before and after the October revolution. The French jazz-guitarist, Jean-Yves Evrard captivated many with his live music in the performance ‘Altijd Prijs’ (Always a Winner) by Arne Sierens. From his group Mâ?k’s Spirit he distils a trio with bass-player Sébastien Boisseau and drummer Eric Thielemans.
