What is the differente between seeing and witnessing?
In Drawing for Witnesses (Are they dead? No, they’re just frozen) performers Stefan Pente and William Wheeler combine the creation of drawings and collages with the movement of their body, in order to share with the audience an irritating encounter with a post-colonial representation of the Other. They develop a choreography in which drawings are not deployed simply to enchant, converse, question or dance, but also as a possibility to travel through time (drawing makes time available, time to enter into dialogue with the surroundings). Pente and Wheeler’s drawings, which are created right before your eyes, evoke a charming magic. Something you have to witness for yourself!
