Graceland – a brilliant mix of American and African music styles – is Paul Simon’s magnum opus. It sold millions of copies and united cultures but divided public opinion about the political role of the artist. Simon was accused of breaking the United Nations’ cultural boycott of South Africa, created to end apartheid.
Renowned film maker, Joe Berlinger, (Paradise lost, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster) illuminated in peerless fashion the complex history of the creation of the album and follows Simon who, 25 years later, returns to South Africa for a reunion concert.
