Imaginary Family is the moniker of Joanna Isselé. Joanna was born in the French Alps, grew up in Belgium and, at the age of fifteen, ended up in Ghent. Just a few years ago, Joanna was given an acoustic guitar as a present. She started writing songs, about delinquent cowboys, a lonely neighbour and penguins?. Being left-handed, she taught herself to play the right-handed guitar upside down. It defines her individual sound, which is delicate, unadorned and moving. Bert Dockx of Flying Horseman entrances the listener like a modern shaman with his mesmerizing voice and his repetitive, threatening guitarplay.
