In this film Ken Jacobs employs the absence of montage as a strategy. He presents the imagery material concerning the murder of Malcolm X just as he himself had found it, raw and unedited. But the title Perfect Film gives the news material a different setting, recontextualizes it and in doing so makes the seemingly unconscious form visible once more.
