Layering extended lines of polyrhythmic thought that can only be properly understood in-the-flow – by bodies in motion – Lena Willikens can switch gears in the blink of an ear between upfront UK bass mutations, motorik offbeats, and nEuropean synth curios – all is welcome as long as it is twisted in a one-of-a-kind way, and no two sets are ever the same. Lena hosts 2 regular shows on NTS (Homunkuli, and Lightning Conductor), holds down a DJ residency at Düsseldorf’s free-spirited club/bar Salon Des Amateurs, and releases her own productions on Dekmantel Rec. More or less permanently traveling to clubs and festivals all around the globe (often in the fine company of her spiritual brethren-partner-fan Vladimir Ivkovic), the term “DJ royalty” just might have been coined for an artist such as Lena Willikens.
