‘Voina’ means ‘war’ and is also the name of the Russian anarchistic art collective whose youngest member is only eighteen months old. Last summer, as associate curators of the Berlin Biennale, they challenged the artistic public at large by not presenting any art but inviting the Occupy movement to take up position in the main building for three months. This prank, in which they turned a police car upside down, threw them into the middle of a media storm which ultimately turned into a struggle for free speech and the right to protest against the political apparatus.
