In the Cameroon rain forest lives a mythical aquatic creature: it has the head of a snake, the tail of a crocodile and the body of a dinosaur. At least, that’s what the locals believe and also the French zoologist and researcher Michel Ballot. For more than a decade he has been under the spell of this “Mokélé-Mbembé and has combed every inch of the forest in the hope of catching a glimpse of the monster. Cinematographer Marie Voignier accompanied him on his two last expeditions and created a fascinating portrait of a determined man in an alien world where demons and monsters are part of everyday reality.
