Plunge into a poetic universe haunted by multiple voices reciting their existence from future places, here and elsewhere. A performance that grooves to cosmic, electronic and bewitching rhythms.

In resonance with the exhibition Quiet Refusal by the collective Black(s) to the Future, Fallon Mayanja invokes different sensory registers to create an experience that shifts into a form of immersive narration.

With the participation of Lázara Rosell Albear

Fallon Mayanja, born in 1990, is a sound and performance artist. Their work explores new ways of listening, and aims to cultivate alternative understandings and perceptions of self, others, and our environments. The subversion of conventional approaches within immersive sound explorations are at the heart of a practice that manifests the relationship between fictional existences and cultural experiences, coming alive with voices, rhythms, sound cosmologies, and the vibrations of multiple worlds. Primarily using technology as a tool to share, feel, and listen, the artist relies on interstices and connections to understand the place of voice, silence, and sound activation in an exploration of the senses and modes of storytelling. Through narratives that have survived chaos, the artist constructs poetic “club” landscapes as well as and support structures for Black diasporic experiences.

Lázara Rosell Albear, born in 1971, is a Cuban-Belgian artist with a cross-medial practice, ranging from the research of sound and performance to the production of events and films. She explores movement, migration, transformation, interactivity and its effects on the human condition.
