Rire est une pièce sur le rire en tant que tel. Le temps de la pièce, Antonia Baehr explore cette expression comme une entité souveraine, dégagée de tout bagage causal – blagues, chatouilles, récit, humour, joie –, et considère la chose même : le son et la forme, la musique, la chorégraphie et la dramaturgie, le rythme et le geste du rire. La comédie n’est pas son but, mais la contamination est un effet et secondaire possible, qui parfois pénètre contagieusement l’autre côté du « quatrième mur ».
