In recent years the relationship between art and political activism has experienced a revival in museums, biennales and art galleries. Socially engaged art and activist artists emerge increasingly on the present-day artistic scene. But when is an artistic protest nevertheless principally a political action? What influence does this have on the artistic value of these kinds of projects? Now that street art has also found its way into museums and galleries again, we wonder once again ‘But is it art?’
