The automated dancefloor organ
Saturday evening - nuit blanche -, we tell you how the Decap-organ was given a new look, thanks to hours of experimenting, rebuilding and adjusting. Two producers (Igor de Kok & Philip Van de Gehuchte), laptops and a video show become part of the organ. They transform this monument into a dancing machine for dub-rave-steppers and other disco frogs!
They blow the newest dance floor sounds through the pipes: a combo of kitsch, old mechanics and futuristic grooves. Let the live-beats-consuming mega organ guide you and be amazed as it consumes and mixes live beats with exotic grumbling, rumbling beats and magical melodies.
Decap? Yes, Decap!
From the 1920’s to the 1970’s, the Decap-organ resulted in a packed dance floor. With its automatically playing instruments and light effects, this machine was the predecessor of the deejay and disco bar. Gradually, vinyl records started casting the organ from its throne and took over the dance floor. In Hertentals, brothers Tony and Frank Decap – great-grandchildren of Decap-founder Alouis – are actively keeping their legacy up-to-date. The love for the organ is passed on onto each following generation and it gets people moving. The perfect instrument to open our focus over generations and family ties!
