In this selection of films, Minia Biabiany transposes the gesture of weaving to the practice of filmmaking, with poetic and symbolic layers moving alongside a political approach to the remembrance of colonial history in the Caribbean. The artist ties together images, voice and written language in the form of a poetic recollection intersecting timelines, landscapes, trauma and healing. Along the way, we encounter plants capable of healing and intoxicating, we delve into matriarchal, human and other-than-human kinships; we listen to the rhythm of silent images and find refuge in the shared space of these multilinear stories.

BIO

Minia Biabiany (b.1988, Guadeloupe) lives and works in Mexico and Guadeloupe. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, France, Biabiany has exhibited widely.
